Banana-Choco Chip Cake

Chocolate + Banana = the eighth sin. The addition of sour cream makes it rich and tender; it is GREAT for picnics or office luncheons.


1 c butter
~2 c. sugar (full 2 c. if you like it sweet, to 1-1/2 if you like it less sweet)
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3 ripe bananas (medium-sized)
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. dairy sour cream
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. brown sugar
1-1/2 c. chocolate chips (or by eyeball)

1) Cream butter and ~2 c. sugar.

2) Beat in eggs until smooth.

3) Add vanilla and bananas, stir until incoroporated

4) In separate bowl, mix together flour, baking powder and soda. Add to butter/banana mixture alternately with sour cream, ending with dry ingredients.

5) Pour half the batter into greased 9 x 13 inch pan.

6) Combine cinnamon and brown sugar. Sprinkle half of this mixture over the batter in the pan. Top with half of chocolate chips. Repeat layers.

7) Bake at 350ºF (180ºC) 45 to 50 minutes until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
