You know it was a good night if you can't remember anything the next morning. Just kidding. I didnt' drink too much. But it was comforting to spend the night with Mark in a room full of testosterone, drinking manly beer, crunching manly peanuts and nibbling on cheesey nachos while watching a hockey game. Happy New Year everyone!! I was too busying cooking food and shovelling snow to write much. I can't believe I haven't finished any knit projects. The felted bag is giving me hell because I think I've missed picking up some stitches along the base. NY dinner was SO good. I had a lot of help from mum with dishes, and she also bought half a suckling pig, some soya chicken, and bbq pork. I can't believe that my family and relatives polished off my dinner of cheese fondue with roast beef, pickled vegetables, crusty bread, and the odd fruit, ciabatta bruschetta, stuffed mushrooms, cream cheese and red pepper pockets, portabello wrapped in filo, clam dip with fresh veggies, racks of lamb, prime rib, baked and roast potatoes, as well as choux pastry with caramel sauce and orange rum creme brulee. They finished it ALL, save for 3 lamb chops and a couple potatoes. It went from me going "oh my god we have WAY too much food" to "oh my god you finished it all and you want more?" ....it surprised me more since I got them to eat swiss cheese, cream cheese and lamb. We were talking over dinner what our "personal" fear factor would be. Aunt Macy's would be smelly cheese, Izzy's would be fresh tomato, Marks' would be serious fear factor like pork / chicken uteri (we saw this at Chong Lee one time and freaked out over the round shaped organs) mine..would be...I don't know what I said..maybe durian? Durian would make me puke. It is a nice day today. What am I going to do? ...it's my last weekend free of school and co-op and work... I should have planned ahead. Instead, I am doing loads of laundry, cleaning, and giving my brand new diffuser lots of work (bergamot oils, "snow" oil from body shop, peach oil). Will write more tonight. God I am tired. I also lied about writing more....and posting recipes... I've just been working on the bag. I'm also planning to do a flat felted purse, inspired by many of the leather / pleather ones I saw whilst bouncing from store to store on Boxing Day. Forgot to mention that I visited Daiso yesterday. "Welcome to Daiso, everything for two dollars." was heard about 20 times while I was shopping there. Which is nice...but annoying. I didn't find too much in there that I had patience to try out. I mean...dollar stores are nice because they are "only a dollar", but two dollars....? Some of the items in there like the gift wrap, gift bags you could get in any plain dollar store...so I wasn't going to pay double for that. But they had some nice gift ideas. For example, the tools were all good ideas, as were some wicker baskets, plastic tubs, and children's toys. I was also disappointed with their sewing / knitting section, since it only consisted of needles in two sizes, and was relatively small to the size of their other "departments". There were some japanese dishes and ramekans which looked worthy of a second over. ..In pursuit of sleeping in...
