So. Here I am procrastinating from writing up a lab report that was supposed to be due today. Luckily the instructor is being nice and letting us "hand it in" before 8:30 tomorrow morning in order for it to be counted as today anyways. I'm even typing this in Microsoft Word so that my sister will think that I'm doing homework. Ahahha….I am so tricky. Although I don't appreciate Word's capitalizing and grammar checking and green and red underlines. That pisses me off. Why CAN'T I be grammatically incorrect? Sheesh. There it goes again. It just capitalized my "sheesh." *sigh* Today was a happy day. I don't think I've laughed as much today as I have in all of the year 2003. Yesterday I watched "The Princess Bride", "Temptress Moon", and "The One". All in one night. Me and Mark also made it down to look at cars in the rain (briefly), grab a quick coffee (although not for me because I don't DRINK coffee), and down to Chinatown to meander and circle around and spend approximately $50 on steamed buns, baked buns, frozen buns, Kent's Kitchen, and produce. I think the boy has enough food in his kitchen now to shack up for two months. The Princess Bride was a good movie. It was all everyone ever said it was. Funny, light-hearted fairytale movie. Everyone was perfectly cast and Wesley was a hottie. Although I think they could have picked a better Buttercup and I could have sworn that Billie Crystal was Vincinzo when I slacked off from work at Rogers' Video. It was a 8.5/10. Second movie, Temptress Moon. I was feeling in a "foreign" mood, and I thought this movie would be good because it got fairly good reviews..and was banned in China! …of course this was on the back of the movie cover and also from the New York Times…. This….was one disturbing movie. How could I not have known that a movie with Leslie Cheung would be disturbing or otherwise evil? The movie is set in the early 1900's when a young boy is sent to live with his older sister and his brother-in-law. The boy is called "sir" by everyone in the house, but is really his sister and brother-in-law's servant, or rather, their slave. The director suggests incest but we never see it…which was probably better for me because I felt like puking after the movie was over. It was well done, however I did not enjoy it basically because it was so over-dramatized and artsy-fartsy…I think I would enjoyed it better as a book. It was somewhat real, and perhaps true, and told of the cycle ever going about the passing on of power, passion, submission…but it really grossed me out. I had to watch another movie on top of the two I had just watched just to relax me a bit. I put the "E" in JERK. Or I could put the "J" I guess, and then Jerry puts the "E". But Helen will always be our CEO mastermind. Lol….This afternoon we prepared the "must" in our wine for our processing course. A dry Riesling. It was fun…although we took a long time. I hope it will be good! As we were pouring the juice and additives into a large container, we caught a whiff of it …it smelled…delicious. At best, I'll have a dry wine to enjoy with chicken and salad and risotto..at worst, I have wine to MAKE risotto with. Lol Man I hate Word. 10:00pm. Like she says, I guess I have to go puke up a report now. |
