It is Thursday....it has been a LONG day. It wouldn't
seem so but I guess I've been pampered all summer with
tasks that catered to my short attention span.
I went to the CFIA government agency for a tour of their fish / health inspection labs. THAT was interesting and the class would agree, much too short. We were only there for two hours and that was simply not enough time to get a good look at all the agency had to offer. Back to school for two classes and then had pizza and pop with the first years and got to mingle a little and sell a couple books. I should have stayed back a year to stay with those cuties. Although they are simply much too young. Yep. I'm a pervie fishey. The afternoon was spent on another tour -- this time of Ocean's Fisheries. It is a HUGE cannery but unfortunately the season is coming slowly to a halt and they weren't canning today. That's ok. We got a good private tour of the semi-quiet company and the huge holding tanks, along with the retorts that could have cooked our class -- eight times over, and the processing line that was fit for some hundred workers! We also checked out the warehouse and sensory labs, as well as the labelling line. Ocean's was definately an interesting experience, but I know that I wouldn't last a month in there. Much too big and much too busy. It's overwhelming! Me and Mark have been together for a year and a half. That's crazy. We went to the PNE the last day of the fair, and I'd warned him about pickpockets. So we're walking around the Marketplace when we stopped to talk to a girl at a stall. All of a sudden, he whips around with a wierd look on his face. "what's wrong?" I asked him. "I felt something on my bum. I think someone tried to grab my wallet." he says. "who? Do you still have your wallet?" I ask. He pointed to a little old lady who was rushing away..white hair and everything! "But i still have my wallet...it was in the other side." As we walked away from the stall, he, still dumbfounded claims, "I thought it was you pinching my butt! I felt a pinch!" ehehehe. A little old lady pinched my boyfriend's sweet cheeks. I'm getting all mushy today. I remember one time when I forgot about my bruschetta in Mark's oven and it got too toasty. He actually removed the tomato-olive toppings from all twelve appetizers, scraped the bread of any charred bits, replaced the toppings and ate them still, proclaiming them "good". I don't know anyone else who would have done that for me. I wished I could give him the same comfort he gives me. I have one year left in this program. I am undecided as to if I should take another two years for a bachelor of technology or just proceed to career. I'm impatient on getting on with my life. I want a house. I want a family. I want weekends and sunshine and getaways to the island...
