"Just when you don't think anything else can go wrong, it always
does."
Ahh....my good friend Murphy. Jerry, Helen,
Greg and I went to go see Cirque Eos last night.
Smaller venue and less dramatic production than
Cirque du Soleil, but still....amazing amazing
stuff.
Where did Murphy's Law apply? The show started at 7:30 p.m. at the Pacific National Expedition. We had agreed Friday that we were going to meet at 6:00 at my house, grab a QUICK bite to eat, then go see the show.Well. I'm sitting at my computer desk working on a Stats assignment and I glance at the clock. 5:58?! Where is everyone? Generally, Helen, Jerry and Greg are EARLY people. (unlike me..that's why we had planned to meet at my house.) at 6:00, Helen calls me on her cell to tell me that she and Jerry would be a couple minutes late. Okay...still had time. Greg showed up at my door at 6:10....but Helen and Jerry were still not at my house yet. Fine fine fine. still time. 6:15. Helen and Jerry show up at my house, and we run out to the car and decide to go to a won ton house on the way to PNE for a quick, fast dinner. I ordered wonton noodles, Greg ordered chicken on rice, Jerry wanted fried chicken wings, and Helen wasn't hungry, so she just had a cold Horlicks. My god....chicken on rice came out, soon after came my noodles...but chicken wings... we had to rush them three times before both me and Greg had finished our dinners. ...and then even when we decided to get them in a take out bag, we had to rush them twice more...you'd think they had to kill and butcher four or five chickens to get Jerry's order of chicken wings. We left the restaurant at 7:20 pm, and I drove to the parkgrounds in under five minutes (woohoo!!!).*sigh*. For some reason, I thought it would be at the Pacific Coliseum. I mean ..hello. If it's in PNE, it could only be in two places: Pacific Coliseum or Agrodome, right??? We bumped into a couple of other Cirque-goers who were also wandering around the grounds...then I ran up to a parking attendant to find out where the hell the show was at. "See that corner?" He says, pointing at the corner of Renfrew and Hastings. "The Cirque is at the opposite corner of the park."GREAT. We ended up running all out of breath out over to behind the corkscrew, and sitting down after the first act at 7:45. I felt like we were doing some twilight-boot-camp-scavenger-hunt thing. hehe. Well aside from our mishaps, I thoroughly enjoyed the show. For a little over thirty dollars, we got very good seats, got to oooh and ahh over the balancing acts, contortionists, jugglers, hoop and ribbon acts and more. The theme was of an enchanted jungle where creatures and clowns vyed for the forbidden fruits...good show, good show. I talked to Mark for a good long while. Yesterday too. I love him as a lover, but I love him more as a friend. I would never want to lose that. We do have lots in common...and we are compatible. But I need to learn to love him not for hopes of the future, nor because of the past, but sincerely for the here and now.
