Run Sheet

So far, it would seem that I'm back.

For the last couple of weeks I've been essentially computerless. Once again I owe my continuing sanity to a very special friend of mine. Once again, Thank you.

The last few weeks of my life are a blur. It seems that February has consisted of little more than work, with short bursts of madly racing about trying to get stuff done on my rare off time. One of the big parts of my job is teaching courses to other Fire Departments. I really enjoy doing this as I get to do a bit of travelling, and I get to meet members of my profession from different areas who all fight fires a little differently because of geographical, industrial, architectural or other considerations. The wonderful thing to re-discover is that we're all the same kind of people, no matter where we're from and what our backgrounds are. Male or female, a firefighter is a firefighter is a firefighter and it's really neat to teach others how to be better at their craft.

Unfortunately the courses and the travelling require that I work a lot of weekends. The good thing about that is that I get compensatory time off. I have no interest in collecting overtime pay, it just isn't worth it in the long run considering how much of it the government takes. I'm more than happy to take time offin lieu, this allows me to take many Fridays off, resulting in three-day weekends on the occasions that I get a free one, and usually an extra week or so of holidays each year. So that ain't too bad.

Other news..
My dead grandmother bought me a Jeep.
I've always wanted a Jeep, and there was a bit of cash to be had after my grandmother died. I was able to pay off my debts and had enough money left over for a newer vehicle.

Since 1988 I've owned a Dodge 3/4 ton pickup. This was a really nice truck and amazingly reliable. In 12 years it didn't cost me a dime outside of regular oil changes and tune-ups. Unfortunately it drank gas at an amazing rate. A few years ago the paint started to peel off. This is a common problem, and eventually she became a big dark blue truck with grey patches all over. Anyway, this last year things started to wear out and I spent most of a grand getting things sorted out. Then grandmother died and I heard that I'd be getting some cash, so I decided it was time for a new vehicle, and to hell with practicality, it was also time for some fun. I looked around for quite awhile and did some research (Really out of character for me, I usually see something I like and buy it without looking further than the price tag)

Anyway, long story short I now own a 1997 Jeep TJ 4 cylinder, soft top, 5 speed, and, best of all, it's red as a whore's lipstick. My family all appear to really like it, and I have little doubt that Mary and I will be fistfighting for the keys once summer comes and the top can be put down.

Any ideas for names?

There ya go, sorry I've been away for so long, and sorry I don't have anything all that interesting to relate. Fire calls have been pretty boring lately (Good for the public, crappy for us)

Anybody wanna buy an '88 Dodge 3/4 ton?
